Q: How much do I need to invest?

A: Depending on its location, the estimated total investment required to establish a Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill restaurant ranges from $804,500 to $1,219,000. This figure is based on a 2,500 sq ft. restaurant and includes a $25,000 franchise fee. It also includes a team training fee typically ranging from $11,000 to $22,000. This figure does not include alcoholic beverage licenses or other fees.

Q: What will the franchise package include?

A: Ling & Louie’s will provide the following before your restaurant opens:

  1. Site Approval
  2. Site Lease Approval
  3. Approval of General Contractor and Architect
  4. Prototype Plans and Specifications; Construction/Build-out Documents
  5. Construction, Build-out, etc.
  6. Approved Vendors and Suppliers; Standard and Specifications
  7. Team Training

Q: Who will design and build my store?

A: We will provide you with comprehensive prototype plans and specifications for your Ling & Louie’s restaurant. Your contractor and architect will be required to prepare the Construction/Build-out documents in a manner consistent with the prototype plans and specifications we provide to you. Construction/Build-out Documents will need to comply to all requirements, including those contained in the Operating Manual. Additionally, we may require that the Construction/Build-out Documents be sealed and stamped, even if the site’s local government does not require same.

Q: What is the franchise fee for a Ling & Louie’s restaurant?

A: The franchise fee is a $25,000 per store location.

Q: Does Ling & Louie’s offer Area Development?

A: Yes. If we agree to sign a Development Agreement with respect to the operation of more than one Ling & Louie’s restaurant, a $10,000 development fee for each restaurant (not including the first) will be charged. This fee will be credited towards the $25,000 franchise fee for future locations. All fees will be payable upon signing of the Development Agreement.

Q: How much are the ongoing royalties?

A: 5% of Gross Sales. Will not include (1) any refunds, credits or discounts made in good faith to customers, (2) any sales, goods and services or equivalent taxes that are collected by Franchisee for or on behalf of any governmental or other public entity and actually remitted to such entity, (3) the value of any coupon, voucher or other allowance authorized by Franchisor and issued or granted to customers of the Franchised Business that is received or credited by Franchisee in satisfaction of the price of products and services, (4) the portion of receipts from the operation of any public telephone located or installed at the Franchised Business and paid to third parties (Franchisee’s share of the revenues is included in Gross Sales), (5) actual discounts off the full value of any meals furnished to Franchisee’s employees as an incident to their employment, not to exceed 1% of Gross Sales during any payment Period (as defined below) or (6) tips, gratuities or service charges paid directly by Franchisee’s customers to his employees or paid to Franchisee and then paid to Franchisee’s employees (without deduction, except as required by applicable laws) in lieu of direct tips or gratuities.

Q: What type of marketing assistance is available?

A: Grand opening, advertising and ongoing local store marketing programs (including website and menus) will be available to all franchisees.

Q: How much money can I make from a Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill?

A: Financial performance will vary from person to person and from location to location.  Factors that will influence your financial performance include the following, among others:

  • How much you follow our methods and procedures
  • Your management skill, experience and business acumen
  • Whether you personally manage your Ling & Louie’s restaurant
  • Fluctuations in prices of goods
  • The region in which your Ling & Louie’s is located
  • Local and national economic conditions
  • Whether the premises is in a new or existing center
  • The physical size and location of your Ling & Louie’s restaurant
  • The skill and experience of your management team
  • The condition of the premises and the amount and nature of tenant improvements required
  • The architectural criteria of the center
  • The HVAC & electrical systems present or necessary
  • The local market for the services and products offered by Ling & Louie’s
  • The prevailing wage rate
  • Competition and the sales level reached during the initial period

Q: How is the site selected for my store?

A: It is your responsibility to locate and evaluate the site within the territory for your Ling & Louie’s restaurant. However, the site must be approved by us. You must submit to us a complete site information package that includes such information as we may require in connection with evaluating the site. We may consider the general location and neighborhood, demographics, traffic patterns, access, visibility, location of other restaurants and food establishments, location of other Ling & Louie’s restaurants, rental cost, the size, configuration, appearance and other physical characteristics of the site and other business factors of the site before determining whether to grant our approval to the site.

Q: Is there any experience necessary to own a Ling & Louie’s?

A: Yes, but not necessarily restaurant experience. Primarily, we’re looking for strong business experience. But we do require that both the general manager and executive kitchen manager have at least three years of restaurant management experience. We also ask that the front of house manager have at least one year of restaurant experience.

Q: Do I need to be involved in the day-to-day operations of my franchise?

A: We do not require that you, the franchisee (or, if the franchisee is a corporation, partnership, limited liability company or entity, a Principal), personally supervise your Ling & Louie’s Restaurant.

A: Your Request for Consideration (RFC) will be reviewed by our Executive team and you will be promptly notified of our decision.
